My Agenda

-
We can protect our environment for the long term by improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of wind, water, and solar power, and finally making the power of the future a reality: nuclear fusion, which, unlike nuclear fission, leaves no waste. We can do this without shutting off or up-charging the fossil fuels that provide energy to our homes today. This is a common-sense, balanced approach.
-
We need more owner-occupied starter homes in Massachusetts so that rising growing families will stay and not leave the state. We must update zoning laws and cut regulations in order to make building new homes affordable. Connecting our state by high-speed rail will also allow people to work in eastern Mass while living in central and western Mass. We can accomplish this without forcing our cities and towns to build low-income housing that they do not want. It is common sense.
-
It is time for high-speed rail. We can utilize the space right down the middle of the Turnpike to avoid environmental issues or eminent domain and construct high-speed rail on time and on budget. First, connect Boston to Worcester. Then expand further west to Springfield. Massachusetts must lead the way to show the rest of America how to get this done. High-speed rail will relieve traffic and expand housing options for those working in greater Boston.

The way to build wealth is through ownership. Everyone should have a chance at home ownership. Also, businesses can generate improved productivity in their whole workforce by offering not only 401k’s, but Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) so that workers are invested in the success of their employers beyond just receiving a paycheck. Creative capitalism, and not socialism, is the pathway to personal and national prosperity.
-
Do your job! Don’t abolish ICE, fix it! Don’t defund the police, do the opposite! Give them the funding, training and equipment they need to keep all of us safe. Balance the budget. Stop the reckless, endless spending! And for goodness’ sake, stop shutting down the government again and again and again for no good reason! The voters of Massachusetts deserve more than just noise and excuses. They deserve results!

Every man, woman and child in America is carrying $113,000 of the federal debt. That is in addition to your home loan and car loan and credit cards. Politicians of both parties have abandoned fiscal responsibility, and this has resulted in both inflation and higher interest rates for all of us. With a balanced budget amendment to stop the debt from getting bigger, and by the government investing a few billion dollars in a “national IRA” that grows over several decades, we can pay off the national debt and bring both inflation and interest rates down without raising taxes or cutting important programs. Common sense.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. As a veteran, I know other veterans suffering with PTSD. The rate of suicide among veterans is unacceptable. Mental illness has also taken a toll on my own family members. Add to that all the pressures that teens feel with cyber-bullying, body-image issues, AI, and so on. Addiction in its many forms is another mental health issue that directly affects individuals and our whole society. I support 988 and will fight for full parity for mental and physical health treatment and coverage.

Many people who have seen me in my army uniform over many decades have thanked me for my service. Do me a favor. The next time you see a law enforcement officer, please thank him or her for their service as well. The men and women of law enforcement deserve as much credit for keeping us safe as our veterans. Let’s make sure they have the equipment, training, and support they need to continue to keep us all safe in our homes, neighborhoods and workplaces.
